The second and third graders of Design39Campus decided to create a memorial after the tragic incident that took place on September 11, 2001. They learned about this by reading the book 14 Cows for America. This book explains what happened in a kid friendly way. It talks about the planes crashing into the twin towers and about the hijackers and the people who died inside of the planes and towers. They learned that there were two other planes that tried to crash into the White house and State Capitol building but all the first responders stopped it.
According to the students, the teacher decided to do the project to help the students learn about 9-11. They made flags to put up in front of our school in the planters to remember the people who died on that day. The students we talked to knew everything about it… about the hijackers, the people inside of the tower, where the towers were, and about the two planes that crashed into the buildings.
The student learned about the tragic day on September 11, 2001 and the importance of it and the lives that people lost that day.
